Mary Berry IBCLC

Hello! My Name is Mary
I’m a Registered Nurse and an (IBCLC) International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with over 25 years of experience in mother-baby care. I’m here to gently support you—offering guidance, encouragement, and care as you nourish your baby and navigate the ups and downs of breastfeeding and pumping.
It’s a true joy to walk alongside mothers as they grow in confidence, meet their feeding goals, and find calm in the quiet moments—one snuggle, one success at a time.

Let's do this together.
Whether you're just beginning or well on your way, your breastfeeding journey is uniquely yours — and I'm here to support you every step of the way.
Your journey. Your baby. Your pace.

Your Journey.
Your Baby.
Your Pace.
Breastfeeding, pumping, or doing both—I'm here to support you, without judgment.
At Cradle & Cedar Lactation, I provide specialized, heart-centered lactation care to help you feel confident, not overwhelmed. Because you deserve to be supported and seen—every step of the way.

Why the first hours matter

Stimulates Your Milk Supply
When your baby nurses within the first hour , the "golden hour", powerful hormones tell your body to start producing milk, which builds long-term supply.

Begins the Bonding Connection
Early skin-to-skin contact and suckling awaken your baby’s instincts to latch. This connection helps regulate your baby’s temperature, heart rate, and breathing, while promoting bonding and emotional security for both of you.

Colostrum Is Packed with Protection
Colostrum, your first milk, is rich in antibodies, enzymes, and nutrients—sometimes called “liquid gold.” It helps coat and protect your baby’s gut lining, laying the foundation for a healthy immune system and balanced microbiome.

Prevents Early Challenges
Early and frequent nursing can help reduce the risk of engorgement, clogged ducts, and mastitis in the days ahead.
It also lowers your baby’s risk of low blood sugar, excessive weight loss, or jaundice.

Builds Confidence and Connection
When things start gently and naturally, you’re more likely to feel confident and supported—and to continue breastfeeding longer.
In short: Those first few hours are about more than just feeding—they’re about creating a rhythm of connection, nourishment, and trust that supports you and your baby from the very beginning.
The first drops of milk carry more than nutrients—they carry comfort, protection, and love
